Meta Ads budget for D2C brands: what to spend and why

Marketing

Allocating the right budget for Meta (Facebook & Instagram) ads is one of the most stressful decisions for new D2C founders. Spend too little, and the algorithm never learns who your ideal customer is. Spend too much without a validated funnel, and you will burn through your runway in a matter of weeks.

A structured testing phase requires a budget that allows for statistical significance. We generally recommend starting with a budget that allows for at least 50 conversions (purchases) per week per ad set to exit the "learning phase."

The 70/20/10 Budget Rule

Once you are scaling, structure your budget: 70% toward proven, top-of-funnel broad prospecting campaigns. 20% toward aggressive retargeting (cart abandoners and site visitors). And 10% strictly for testing new creatives, hooks, and angles. Combine this with WhatsApp automation on the backend to increase Customer Lifetime Value (LTV).
